Tawny Owls Y1
13/9/24
Hello Tawny Owls,
Another fabulous week! It was lovely meeting some of your grown ups this week. We're looking forward to meeting the rest of them over the next few weeks.
This week we have been busy getting into our curriculum. We have been learning new sounds in phonics, we have been counting and sorting objects, we have made predictions about what will happen in the story Oliver's Vegetables, we have explored different types of farms and we have learnt what God created using the Creation Story.
Today, you have all brought home your yellow reading diaries and 2 reading books (one Monster Phonics book and one Reading for Pleasure book). You should try to read for 5-10minutes every day. Read your Monster Phonics book at least 3 times and ask your grown up to write in your reading diary each time you read. Your Monster Phonics book and yellow reading diary need to be in school everyday, so it is good to get in the habit of keeping your books in your book bags. We will change your Monster Phonics book every Friday. If you need to keep your Reading for Pleasure book for a little longer, that is ok :)
You have also brought home your green homework folder. Please complete your homework and return it to school by Wednesday 18th September. This will then give us some time to have a look at them before we send the next homework out on Friday.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing you next week.
Mrs Pearce, Mrs Marah, Mrs Quartermain and Mrs Sansom
This week we have looked at the sounds: tch, ve and ai. We have used our segmenting and blending skills to read and write words using these sounds.
